My Thoughts:
I have a habit of going into books without reading what they are about. I did that with Shatter Me, and guess what... another 'touch of death' book. I read 3 books about this subject in the same week. You could say I am getting burned out.
I did like this book a little more than the others. I think the Dystopian theme to the book made it feel a little different from the others. I am not sure if I like Juliet or not yet. There isn't anything wrong with her personality or anything, I think I just need more time to get to know her. Of course, there is one guy who can touch her without dying. I bet you didn't expect that, did you? I like Adam, and I am thrilled he turned out to be one of the good guys.
Towards the end of the book, you learn that somewhere beyond the borders of the Reestablishment there are more 'gifted' people living hidden. I am actually looking forward to learning more about these people in book 2. I am hoping for some originality in the powers the people there have.

I've been meaning to read this book for over 5 months now. I already bought it and it's just sitting there, waiting on me. I've heard it's really good. How weird though that you've read 3 books this week with the same concept! I don't think I've read a "touch of death" book before but I can imagine how you would get burnt out. The second book is much better, from what I've heard. Hopefully you'll like it better!
ReplyDeleteI was so leery going into this one, but loved it in the end. I can see what you mean about Juliet though. She takes some time to grow on you.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about Juliet. I found nothing amazing about her but nothing wrong with her either. I liked this book but I thought it was a tad bit preditable. Glad you enjoyed it!
